10th International Scientific Conference POWA 2016 will be held in Zagreb (Croatia) at the Croatian chamber of economy, Rooseveltov trg 2. POWA 2016 was preceded by the conferences held, except in Zagreb, in several locations around the Croatia, such as Split, Vukovar, Dubrovnik and Sisak, with participation of many experts in the field of professional and scientific community. The organizer of this year's conference is the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences of University of Zagreb in cooperation with the Faculty of Maritime Studies Split, Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport of University of Ljubljana and Croatian chamber of economy while sponsored by the International Sava River Basin Commission. Developed transport infrastructure is a basic prerequisite for the development of the transport system, while developed transport system is essential for regional, economic and social balanced development. Cooperation in the field of transport infrastructure is achieved through harmonization of national interests with the interests of the European Union and neighbouring countries. The initiatives of the European Union are carried out within CEF (Connecting Europe Facility), TEN-T (Trans-European Transport Network), TEM (Trans-European Motorways) and macro-regional strategies such as the EU Strategy for the Danube Region and the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region. Aim of the conference POWA is assembling and exchange of ideas, knowledge and skills of key stakeholders in the field of water transport in order to develop discussions between scientists and businessmen on the topic of current and future frameworks of the EU policy on water transport, with an emphasis on Croatia. It is important to stress that the conference POWA is supported by the Croatian academic community as well as the port and the economic sector.
