Course description: Multiservice telecommunication networks and services. Specification of communication needs and user requirements. The process of end-to-end data transfer. Technological processes of information transmission on the Internet. The role of network elements and protocols in the information transfer process. Determining the performances of the serving system (link and node) - application of the priority queuing model. Traffic routing methods. Flow control and error control. Concept and main traffic characteristics of the 3rd and 4th generation of mobile networks. Determining the capacity of the cell (traffic and signaling channels) with a defined level of service quality. Technological processes of information transmission in the mobile network. Methods for capacity allocation in a cell and analysis of cell performances. Methods for traffic prediction in packet switched networks (multilevel traffic evaluation). Quality of Service and Quality of Experience. Measuring service quality. End-to-end quality of service objectives and QoS mapping on network elements. An analysis of the impact of network performance degradation on service quality (types of artifacts). End-to-end quality of service management.
