Course description: Container traffic basic terms. Features of cargo transported in containers. General conditions for containers handling. Container identification. Technical characteristics and handling methods for different containers types. Container vessel types. Calculation of vessel operational time at the port. Calculation of optimal number of docks at container terminals. Scheduling of containers by vessel cargo space based on certain criteria. Vessel cargo insurance. Container vessel cost modeling. Influence of information and communication systems on the container terminals control. Ro-Ro vessels. Port container terminals. Calculation of optimal mechanization number at container terminals. Calculation of required area for container storage. Information and communication systems at container terminals. Terminal cargo plan.
