Course description: Mechanical loads of aircraft structures: static, dynamic, combined. Thermal loads. Influence of aerodynamic forces on the load of aircraft structures. Fundamentals of mechanical vibration and transmission mechanisms through aircraft structure. Analytical description of free and forced vibrations. Vibration damping. Analysis of jitter and resonance in transportation of assets. Dynamic vibration factor and phase shift. The inherent frequency of individual aircraft structure assemblies. Adverse effects caused by vibration: flutter, buzz, divergence. Dynamic loading of structures caused the drive system and the landing gear. Basics of fracture mechanics: material fatigue, high-cycle cracks. Influence of corrosion and tribochemical wear on fatigue and durability of aeronautical structural materials. Optimizing maintenance to increase dynamic resilience and comparison to aeging. Non-destructive testing. Critical error criterion. Determination of loading and fatigue limit values. Procedures for analysis of the condition and repair of structures after overloading.
