Course description: An introduction to visual information in traffic. Fundamentals of optics and photometry. Symbolic traffic interaction. Basic forms of visual traffic messages and alerts: light, text, graphic, image. Traffic information graphics. Visibility in traffic and human eye. Functioning of the vision system depending on the light levels. Basics of perception of visual information in traffic. Drivers Perception. Traffic sign efficiency factors: legibility of traffic signs, photometric features of traffic signs, colorimetric features of traffic signs. Visible distance. Visual perception and reaction. Visual perception in conditions of reduced visibility. The impact of headlights and windshield systems on visibility. New traffic management technologies. Global Communication GPSS Systems. Possibilities of experimental and simulation research of information and communication traffic management.
