Course description: Reference model of telecommunication network. Fundamental telecommunication principles, communication channel, communication
system, OSI model, electromagnetic spectrum. Transmission media and their selection criteria. Modulation techniques (analogue
and digital) and multiple transmission and access techniques (FDM, TDM, WDM, FDMA, TDMA, OFDMA) used in contemporary telecommunications
networks. Types of transmission networks and technologies depending on application and transmission medium. Overview of the
most important telecommunication bodies and their role in standardization and definition of new solution. Examples of telecommunication
network architectures (PSTN, VoIP, IP TV, GSM-UMTS-LTE, Wireless Sensor Network, Local Area Networks).
