Course description: Fundamentals of networking and network routing, depending on switching technique (circuit or packet-switched). Types of routing in fixed telephone network. Numbering plans in mobile and fixed communications networks. Signaling network for telephony - Signaling System 7. Number portability and its effect on switching in telecommunications network. Routing schemes in communication networks based on fixed and nongeographic number portability. Routing schemes in mobile communications networks with number portability. Interoperability between circuit-switched and packet-witched networks (IP-PSTN-IP, SIP trunking, ALL-IP environment, MPLS, IMS). Switched LAN architecture. Routing schemes in wireless sensor networks. QoS routing. Routing in IP network, IP routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, IS-IS, IGRP, EIGRP, BGP).
