Course description: Introduction to atmosphere. Air temperature. Air pressure. Wind. Water in atmosphere. Clouds and precipitation. Stability and instability of atmosphere. General atmosphere circulations. Air masses. Atmospheric fronts. Anticyclones and cyclones. Local air streams. Atmospheric phenomena dangerous for air traffic. Analysis and weather forecasts. Meteorological information in aviation. Comparison of real data with the international standard atmosphere. Analysis of temperature fields using isotherms, conversion units for air temperature. Analysis of pressure fields using isobars, conversion units for air pressure. Wind azimuth, units for wind speed, marking winds on meteo-charts. Assessment of relative humidity from meteorological data. Determining the types of clouds, marking of precipitation on meteorological charts. Meteorological thermo-dynamic diagram. Average global time as consequence of general circulation. Air masses and weather in Croatia. Marking of atmospheric fronts on meteorological charts. Diagnosing anticyclones and cyclones on a meteorological chart. Analysis of actual weather situations with dominant local streams. Marking of dangerous phenomena on meteorological charts.
