Course description: Basic concepts of water transport system, subjects and characteristics. Importance of the water transport system, compatibility, synergy. Functional specification of ITS in ports. Information systems - information aspect. Communication systems-communication aspect. Measures of kindness and their valorisation. Simulation, simulation justification, integration of simulation and planning process. Water transport system and ITS in the 21st century, globalization, sustainable development, networking. ITS development projects in world ports, shipping companies, cost-benefit analysis of ITS service integration. Overview of existing communication and information systems required. Strategy for the development of the water transport system in the Republic of Croatia and TEN and TINA. Dynamic system optimization and system integration with other subsystems of the national transport system.
