Course description: Types of transmission media (bearers) in telecommunications systems and networks. Generally about transmission media. Technical (electrical and structural) features. Primary and secondary transmission parameters. Parameters of mutual influence. Symmetrical cables and Asymmetrical cables. Fiber optics and their importance in transmission systems. Technical characteristics of fiber optic. Fiber optic transmission parameters. Fiber optic transmission system. Wave multiplex. Comparative overview of line features and usability. Protection of lines and TK devices. External influences on bearers and TK devices. Protection against mechanical and electrochemical influences. Protection against atmospheric electricity discharges and the effects of power plants. Structural cabling. Basic concepts and transmission media in structural cabling. Structural cabling standards. Structured cabling architecture.
