Course description: Track geometry. Straight and curved track elements, cant, transitional curves and ramps, longitudinal and cross sections of railway track. Upper rail structure. Impact of wheel / rail interface. Static and dynamic forces in the track. Track resistance. Track calculation with respect to dynamic effects. Calculation of rails, track fasteners, sleepers and ballast. Calculation of horizontal and vertical track stability. Maintenance of upper rail structure.
