Course description: Solar system. The shape and size of the Earth. Time and time conversion. Course, heading, and track in aviation navigation. Distance. Navigation aids and tools. Earth magnetism, flight course. Maps and Aeronautical charts. Map projections and their properties. Dead reckoning navigation. Flight speed and altitude. Wind in navigation. Navigation preparation for flight (general, previous, operational). In-flight navigation procedures. 1:60 rule. Use of FMS in navigation. Inertial navigation system. The basics of baric, grid and astronomical navigation.
