Course description: Basics of radiocommunications. Frequency bands in air traffic: basic principles of communication, emergency frequencies, aeronautical
voice and data communications (HF, VHF, satellite communications, VDL), WLAN. Basics of data transfer. Communication and information
networks in air traffic: organization of communications, radiocommunications, AFTN, CIDIN. Network of air transport companies
(SITA, ACARS), AMADEUS network. Airport communication and information systems (FIDS, DCS, CDB). Air navigation (navigation
systems, basic concepts, definition, division, units of measure, navigation maps, displaying navigation parameters). Electronic
navigation systems: radiogoniometry (NDB, VOR/DME), hyperbolic navigation systems (Loran, MLAT), satellite navigation systems
(GNSS). Performance enhancement of GNSS using SBAS, GBAS, ABAS. Autonomous navigations systems (inertial, Doppler navigation
radar). Spatial navigation. Approach and landing systems (ILS, MLS, GCA, DGNS). Basics in air traffic surveillance; radars
for air traffic surveillance: principles, primary surveillance radar, limitations. Secondary surveillance radar, meteorological
radar, development of air traffic surveillance (ADS, MLAT), systems for avoiding air collision (ACAS).
