Department of Aeronautics

Professor Doris Novak, a member of the Department of Aeronautics at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, appeared in Croatian media as an aviation expert commenting on the aircraft accident near Medulin.

Speaking about the investigation, Professor Novak emphasized that the cause of the crash is still unknown and that, at this stage, it is too early to exclude any possible scenario. He explained that investigations of aircraft accidents are carried out by systematically eliminating potential causes, which may include human factors, technical failure, fuel-related issues, engine failure, or structural damage.

Professor Novak also noted that the position of the wreckage may provide investigators with an important clue in determining the circumstances of the accident. In addition, he explained that small aircraft are generally not required to carry flight data recorders, but that the cause of an accident can still be determined through appropriate investigation methodology.
