On\nTuesday, December 22, 2021, at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, the\nagreement for the assigning of funds from the Croatian Science Foundation under\nthe tender “Research project, deadline 2020-02” for the research\nproject IP-2020-02-5042 “Development of Learning Agent-based Systems for\nImproved Urban Traffic Control (DLASIUT)” led by Assoc. Prof. Edouard\nIvanjko was signed. The signing of the contract was attended by the dean Prof.\nTomislav Josip Mlinari\u0107, Vice Dean for Science and External Cooperation Assist.\nProf. Marko \u0160o\u0161tari\u0107 and secretary Romina Jovan\u010devi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project’s total value is HRK 1,088,840.00,\nwith the first installment of HRK 599,130.00. The project will last for four\nyears from January 15, 2021, to January 14, 2025, and is implemented in\ncollaboration with foreign researchers Prof. Ivana Dusparic from TCD, Dublin,\nIreland, Prof. Daniela Koltovska Ne\u010doska from the Faculty of Technical\nSciences, St. Kliment Ohridski University – Bitola, Northern Macedonia and Prof.\nRen\u00e9 Schumann from the Institute of Information Systems, HES-SO Valais,\nSwitzerland. In the project, local researchers Prof. Sadko Mand\u017euka, postdoc Martin\nGreguri\u0107, Ph.D., Dino \u010cakija, B.Sc., Kre\u0161imir Ku\u0161i\u0107, mag. ing. traff., Mladen\nMileti\u0107, mag. ing. traff. and Filip Vrbani\u0107, mag. ing. traff. will also\nparticipate with the plan for the employment of one doctoral student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goals and expected results of the project\nare:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Identified\nmost representative classes of traffic scenarios with which the traffic controller\nmust cope.<\/li>
  2. Developed\nreinforcement learning multi-agent-based traffic controller for urban traffic\nenvironments.<\/li>
  3. Developed\nframework for structured learning\/testing of learning multi-agent-based traffic\ncontroller.<\/li>
  4. The\ndeveloped traffic controller augmented for the management of traffic flows\ncontaining connected and autonomous vehicles.<\/li>
  5. The\nimpact of the developed learning multi-agent-based controller on the\nimprovement of urban traffic control analyzed.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n
