On 9 December 2025, Dr. Kre\u0161imir Ku\u0161i\u0107 from the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, University of Zagreb, delivered an online presentation on the application of digital twin technologies in addressing urban traffic optimization challenges, emphasizing the importance of advanced e-infrastructure and services provided by the University Computing Centre (SRCE) in supporting cutting-edge research and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In his talk, Dr. Ku\u0161i\u0107 highlighted the role of the Supek supercomputer in his ongoing research at Trinity College Dublin, School of Computer Science and Statistics, conducted within the HRZZ-MOBODL-2023-12-5261 mobility project for postdoctoral researchers. He demonstrated how high-performance computing can significantly enhance data-driven, sequence-based deep learning approaches to traffic modelling, supporting urban traffic management and advancing traffic digital twin models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The lecture was organized as part of the visit of participants of the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) \u201cThe New Era of Transport and Logistics\u201d to the SRCE data centre. During the visit, SRCE experts presented the centre\u2019s pivotal role in supporting the digital transformation of the academic and scientific community, showcasing the development of robust e-infrastructure and a wide range of advanced services available to researchers and students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event concluded with a guided tour of the SRCE data centre, offering participants valuable insights into the technological backbone that enables modern, data-intensive research and large-scale numerical models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
