We are delighted to share that from June 9\u201311, our student Nikola Topi\u0107 gave multiple seminars at the prestigious Trinity College Dublin, presenting his master\u2019s thesis research titled \u201eCo-simulation empowered multicriteria analysis of autonomous vehicles impact on traffic flow\u201c (link to the thesis https:\/\/repozitorij.fpz.unizg.hr\/en\/islandora\/object\/fpz%3A3491<\/a>). In his work, he applied the state-of-the-art CARLA-SUMO co-simulation framework to perform a multi-criteria analysis of the impact of various autonomous vehicles penetration rates on motorway traffic performance, safety, and energy consumption under different traffic conditions and speed limit configurations. In addition to the seminars, Nikola gave a hands-on coding session, thoroughly explaining the co-simulation framework to colleagues at TCD, highlighting how it can be further leveraged from both scientific perspectives: traffic engineering and computer science. His visit was supported by the ClearWay project and hosted by Prof. Vinny Cahill, Prof. Ivana Dusparic, and supervisor Dr. Kre\u0161imir Ku\u0161i\u0107. We extend our sincere thanks to Vinny, Ivana, and all the students, PhDs, and postdocs for the engaging discussions during Nikola\u2019s stay, and we look forward to future collaborations. We also express our gratitude to the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences for fostering an interdisciplinary and innovative academic curriculum that provides our students with high-quality education, enabling them to conduct innovative research during their studies. Special thanks to MathWorks, and Mr. J\u00e1nos Kert\u00e9sz, Regional Sales Manager \u2013 Education & SDR\/ISR Team Lead (SciEngineer), for providing Nikola with a student research license for the RoadRunner software. We also thank Nikola\u2019s co-supervisor, Nino \u0160ehagi\u0107, univ. mag. ing. traff., from the company Rimac Technology, for his valuable expert advice from the perspective of the automotive industry. We also acknowledge the support of the Croatian Science Foundation, which enables Dr. Ku\u0161i\u0107\u2019s longer research visit to Trinity College Dublin under grant MOBODL-2023-12-5261.
