The SIGMA360 project has started the procurement process for key technical equipment that will support 360° video recording, immersive media processing, data storage, and experimental testing activities planned within the project.
Equipment Procurement Process Started
As part of the SIGMA360 project implementation, the project team has started the procurement process for key technical equipment required for the upcoming research, recording, processing, and testing activities. This marks an important operational step in preparing the technical infrastructure needed to carry out the planned project tasks.
The planned equipment includes a VR-ready laptop, which will be used for processing immersive video content, supporting VR-related workflows, and conducting technical analyses. The project will also procure Insta360 cameras for recording 360° video materials in different environments and under different content conditions.
In addition to the cameras, the procurement process includes a NAS device for storing video recordings and project data. Since the project will generate and process a large number of high-resolution 360° video sequences, reliable storage infrastructure is essential for organizing, preserving, and managing the recorded material.
The project will also acquire various camera mounts and accessories, including mounts for backpacks, bicycles, tripods, and other recording scenarios. These accessories will enable flexible 360° video capture in different conditions and will support the creation of diverse video content for later analysis and subjective testing.
Additional planned equipment includes VR headsets for immersive viewing and testing, as well as a tablet for remote camera control. This equipment will support the preparation of experimental conditions and enable more efficient recording workflows during field and laboratory activities.
Alongside the newly planned equipment, the SIGMA360 project will also use an Insta360 Pro camera, which had already been procured earlier. Together, the existing and newly procured equipment will provide the technical foundation for recording, processing, storing, and evaluating immersive 360° video content within the project.
