Biography
Pero Škorput was born on October 18, 1976, in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is married and a father of two children. He completed primary school in Vrgorac and secondary education at the Electrotechnical School in Zadar.
He graduated on February 18, 2002, from the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, majoring in postal and telecommunication systems, with a thesis entitled “New Generation of Telecommunication Networks According to the ENGINE Concept”, earning the professional title of Traffic Engineer (B.Sc.). During his undergraduate studies, he received the Rector’s Award of the University of Zagreb in 2001 for his scientific-professional work titled “Adaptation of Postal Operators to Electronic Business”.
He obtained his Master of Science (M.Sc.) on November 20, 2009, at the postgraduate scientific master’s program of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, with a thesis entitled “Real-Time Traffic Incident Management”, under the mentorship of Assoc. Prof. Sadko Mandžuka, Ph.D. He earned his Ph.D. on March 10, 2014, at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, with a doctoral dissertation titled “Open Ontology Model for Cooperative Intelligent Transportation Systems”, under the mentorship of Prof. Sadko Mandžuka, Ph.D., and Assoc. Prof. Markus Schatten, Ph.D.
In 2007, he was appointed to the position of Assistant and joined the Department of Intelligent Transportation Systems at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, University of Zagreb. He teaches exercises for undergraduate and graduate courses including Intelligent Transportation Systems I, Fundamentals of Traffic Engineering, Traffic Incident Management, and Computer Security. In addition to teaching, he is actively engaged in scientific research, focusing on the application of semantic technologies in transportation, traffic engineering, intelligent transportation systems, and traffic cybersecurity.
In 2014, he was promoted to the academic title of Research Associate.
At the Faculty, he has served on the Committee for Informatization (2007–2009) and as Secretary of the Committee for Bachelor’s and Master’s Theses (2010–2014). Since 2014, he has been the Chair of the E-Learning Committee and a member of the Committee for Monitoring and Improving Scientific and Teaching Development.
Since 2013, he has served as Union Representative at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, and since 2014, he has been a member of the Dean’s Council. He has participated in multiple international and national projects in the field of transport technology. He has published thirty papers in scientific journals, conference proceedings, and abstracts both nationally and internationally.
He serves as Secretary of the Intelligent Transportation Systems Croatia Association and actively participated in the establishment of the Intelligent Transportation Systems Association in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He is proficient in English, both spoken and written, and since 2007 has been registered in the scientists’ registry at the Ministry of Science and Education under ID number 293112. He has also won multiple national awards in athletics.
