Course description:

Objective of the course:

• Provide knowledge and information necessary to demonstrate at least Level 5
  according to ICAO English Level Proficiency Testing descriptors.

Learning outcomes:
After the completion of the course the student will be able to:

1. Apply complex English grammar (indirect speech, impersonal passive) and
   linguistic structures (academic writing, mathematical expressions) in English
   language texts
2. Accurately translate aviation texts from Croatian into English according to ICAO
   descriptors using dictionaries and glossaries (according to ICAO English Language
   Proficiency Requirements – Level 6 and to the Common European Framework of
   Reference for Languages – C1)
3. Actively participate in discussions on aviation issues and respect other students’
   opinions, respond to the mistakes of fellow students and offer answers
4. Write an essay (1500 words) on a given topic in aviation in English and create a
   presentation and give an oral presentation in English to colleagues
5. Apply professional vocabulary and complex grammatical structures in analysing
   aviation safety, aviation communications, health and workplace stress, space
   exploration and low-cost airlines
6. Independently, in pairs and in a group, argue for the advantages and disadvantages
   of the Single European Sky using professional terminology in English
