Croatian Air Force and the Faculty of Traffic and Transport Sciensces confirms good cooperation in the future

In order to further improve already good cooperation with Croatian Air Force (CAF) and academic community in the field of education of military pilots in Croatia, brigadier general Miroslav Kovač, Commander of the Croatian Air Force, meet with the representatives of Faculty of Traffic and Transport Sciences, prof. Ernest Bazijanac (vice dean) and assoc. prof. Doris Novak (head of the Aeronautical Division). Meeting was held on 12 October 2016 at the Croatian Air Force HQ and was accompanied with several other experts from the air force and other military branches. General Kovač emphasized that the CAF is more than satisfied with the model of education at the Faculty of Traffic and Transport Sciences, level of knowledge that future military pilots have after finishing part of their higher education at the Faculty. He also concluded that learning outcomes are well suited to the profiles that CAF needs. It is expected that CAF will provide full analysis of their future needs, and that the Faculty and Croatian Air Force will continue their long-lasting tradition in education of military pilots as aeronautical engineers and military experts.

Capt. Grgec and col. Huljev received Charter of Recognition from the Faculty

For their significant contribution trough last several years to the Development of Aeronautics at the Faculty of Traffic and Transport Sciences, capt. Josip Grgec (Director of Operation at Croatia Airlines) and col. Goran Huljev (commander of the Pilot school at Croatian Air Force) received Charter of Recognition. Ceremony was held in Borongaj campus on 10 October 2016 during the celebration of the Faculty’s Day. We hope that the good cooperation will continue further on, and once more, as a Department give our gratitude to our friends and colleagues.

New ATC Basic Training Course Started for the Employees of CroControl

On October 3rd 2016, a new class of 12 candidates selected by CroControl Ltd (Croatian ANSP) started their ATC basic training at the Croatian Air Traffic Control Training Centre, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences. The training is being held by employees of the Department of Aeronautics with significant input from the ATC instructors employed by CroControl.

The goal of the course is to teach the candidates basic theory needed for future work and rating training. The basic training covers following topics: Introduction, Air Law, Navigation, Air Traffic Management, Aircraft, Equipment and Systems, Human Factors, Meteorology, Professional Environment, and Aviation English. This generation of candidates is undergoing the training for ATC according to the EU regulation 2015/340.

With the help of the ATC instructors, during the Basic training, the candidates will also gain valuable skills on the BEST radar simulator. For the first time at the Croatian Air Traffic Control Training Centre, candidates will take part in practical simulator training for all three air traffic control units, Aerodrome, Area Control and Approach control.
