Assistant Lucija Bukvić, from the Department for Intelligent Transport Systems, returned from research mobility at the institution School of Computer Science and IT, University College Cork (UCC), for which she received funding from the MOBDOK-2023 project of the Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ).
UCC has a long tradition in operations research thanks to the famous professor of mathematics, George Boole, who taught there.
The specific project worked on by Andrea Visentin, PhD, Cemalettina Ozturk, PhD and assistant Bukvić as part of the Insight centre laboratory for data analytics, deals with the application of a new resilience parameter in adaptive management of supply chains.
Mr. Ozturk provided expertise on adaptive stress-testing in the supply chain and industry examples from their research on supply chain disruptions, which aligns with the assistant’s doctoral research.
During the mobility period, Ms. Bukvić participated in a workshop Skills Development Program Energy Cost Optimization funded by EU and EDIH (European Digital Innovation Hubs Network) held by expert in the field of operations research Helmut Simonis. The workshop provided numerous examples of use cases to optimise energy consumption, practical insights with attendees from relevant energy industries. This knowledge is valuable in terms of integrating ideas into course Operations research at the home organisation.
