Hrvoje Gold was born on November 13th, 1951 in Zagreb, Republic of Croatia. He is a full professor with tenure at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, University of Zagreb. He received his graduate and master’s degrees in 1974 and 1979 at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb and his doctoral degree at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, University of Zagreb in 1994. He has authored or co-authored over a hundred research and professional papers published in journals and proceedings of scientific and professional conferences, as well as project reports dealing with the development and application of information-communication and computer technologies in the field of intelligent transportation systems. He has specialized in general systems methodology and semantic processing, the establishment of the generic traffic theory, optimization algorithms and scientific computing in transport logistics and development of systems and methods of remote sensing and computer vision and its applications in analysis and development of traffic and transport systems and humanitarian demining. As a leader or a researcher, he was involved in several international and national research and development projects. He was a reviewer of journals papers and proceedings from scientific and professional conferences, technological projects and university study programs. He is a supervisor of several doctoral and masters’ theses, and numerous diploma theses. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), IEEE Intelligent Transportation Systems Society, Intelligent Transport Systems Croatia, Center of Excellence for Computer Vision at the University of Zagreb, Scientific Center of Excellence for Data Science and Cooperative Systems and associate of the Croatian Academy of Engineering. He has held the positions of head of the Department of Intelligent Transportation Systems, vice-dean for science and external collaboration and is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences. He speaks English and is familiar with French and German.
