As part of the Erasmus+ project EuroS@P NWRSA (Network Wide Road Safety Assessment), Bojan Jovanović, Ph.D, from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, participated in the international conference GAMBIT 2025, held in Gdańsk, Poland.
The conference brought together European experts in the fields of road safety, infrastructure, and traffic management, with the second day of the event focusing on road infrastructure safety within the framework of the EuroS@P NWRSA project.
Jovanović presented the Croatian approach to assessing the risk level of a road network, showcasing good practice examples of initiatives aimed at proactively identifying high-risk road segments. The presentation included methodological steps, institutional support, and the results of assessments conducted on Croatian roads.
Special emphasis was placed on the importance of systematically applying the NWRSA approach in infrastructure planning and management, as well as on the collaboration between academia, road authorities, and other partners.
As part of the presentation, the Croatian Guidelines for the Implementation of Road Safety Assessment of the Core Road Network, Motorways, and Primary Roads (NWRSA) were also presented as the guidelines are closely aligned with Directive (EU) 2019/1936, which was of great interest to conference attendees.
