ANNOUNCEMENT OF A
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
for admission to the doctoral study programme leading to the academic degree of Doctor of Science, within the scientific area of Engineering Sciences, field of Transport and Traffic Technology, for the academic year 2026/2027.
DOCTORAL STUDY PROGRAMME
“Traffic and Transportation”
Admission requirements for the doctoral study programme:
1. Applicants who have completed a university undergraduate or graduate study programme in the scientific area of Engineering Sciences, field of Transport and Traffic Technology, or another study programme within the scientific area of Engineering Sciences may apply.
2. The evaluation of applicants includes academic performance in the relevant university graduate study programme, integrated undergraduate and graduate study programme, or university specialist study programme; demonstrated interest in scientific research through a motivation letter; published scientific and professional papers; published student papers awarded the Rector’s or Dean’s Award; recommendations from professors and a potential supervisor; and a developed proposal of the research area. Applicants must have acquired at least 300 ECTS credits through their previous studies. An interview with the applicant is a mandatory part of the admission procedure.
3. The grade point average achieved during undergraduate or graduate studies must be at least 3.5. Exceptionally, admission may be granted to applicants whose average grade is between 3.0 and 3.49, provided they demonstrate notable scientific research achievements and submit recommendations from two university teachers holding academic teaching or scientific positions.
4. Applicants who completed their previous higher education outside the Republic of Croatia must submit a positive opinion issued by the Committee for Academic Recognition of Foreign Higher Education Qualifications of the University of Zagreb regarding the level and type of foreign higher education qualification, confirming fulfilment of the admission requirements in accordance with the Act on Recognition and Evaluation of Foreign Educational Qualifications (Official Gazette 69/2022). Applicants who obtained their qualification outside the Republic of Croatia are required to initiate the recognition procedure independently and submit the positive opinion no later than the time of enrolment.
Basic information on the doctoral study programme:
• Doctoral candidates have the right to complete their studies under the conditions applicable at the time of enrolment within six years.

• Tuition fee: EUR 8,000.00
• Admission quota: 20 candidates
Required documentation for applications to the doctoral study programme and university specialist study programmes:
1. Written application for admission.
2. Certified copies of diplomas from previous education.
3. Transcript of records with calculated grade point average.
4. Curriculum Vitae (Europass format).
5. Two photographs.
6. Statement regarding payment of tuition fees.
7. Copy of citizenship certificate or an equivalent document for foreign applicants.
8. Certificate of Croatian language proficiency (for foreign nationals).
9. Statement of motivation for enrolment, including a description of scientific interests and a proposal of the research area.
10. Research topic proposal with justification.
11. Recommendations from two university teachers and copies of published scientific papers, where applicable.
