The Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, University of Zagreb, as a scientific research and educational institution, has been a long-standing center of knowledge and expertise in various segments of traffic and transportation technology, including road traffic safety. For this reason, on January 24, 2023, the Faculty established the Center of Excellence for Road Traffic Safety (CERTS). The Center's activities are primarily focused on a proactive approach to addressing road traffic safety issues. This involves preventing road crashes through positive changes in behavior of road users, improving the design and maintenance of road infrastructure, and enhancing vehicle safety aspects. In addition to the proactive approach, the Center's activities also encompass a reactive approach, addressing issues based on historical data, crash analyses, and insights from relevant scientific research and best practices at the EU and global levels.
