Training “Introduction to Technology Transfer”

On 12 and 13 May 2026, a two-day international training course titled “Introduction to Technology Transfer” was held. The training was organized by the Office for Projects and Technology Transfer of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, University of Zagreb, as part of the STEIDA project — Strengthening Technology Transfer Ecosystem through Innovative and Digital Approaches, implemented under the Erasmus+ programme.

The training was intended for professionals in the field of technology transfer, students, doctoral candidates, researchers, and entrepreneurs. Its aim was to introduce participants to the fundamentals of the technology transfer ecosystem, its key stakeholders, and the important processes that connect scientific research, innovation, and the economy.

During the training, participants had the opportunity to gain insight into areas such as intellectual property management, licensing, the development of spin-off companies, TRL levels, Proof of Concept processes, market potential analysis, intellectual property valuation, and opportunities for national and international funding. Special emphasis was also placed on models of university-industry cooperation through real-life examples, as well as on strengthening networking and digital collaboration skills.

The educational materials were developed in cooperation with Karadeniz Teknik Üniversitesi, the Technology Transfer Application Research Center (KTU TTC), and the project partners: the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce (BCC), the Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information (CVTI SR), and the Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI). The project leaders are representatives of KTU TTC.

The training contributed to a better understanding of technology transfer processes, innovation management, and the connection between academia and industry. It enabled participants to acquire new knowledge and skills applicable in research, entrepreneurial, and professional work, and contributed to strengthening capacities for the development of innovative and digital approaches in technology transfer.
